During one of my martial arts lessons in the 90s a teacher asked: “when you must describe an apple and the only evidence you have is a crate full with rotten apples. How would your description of a perfect Apple look like?”
The answers were generally: Rotten. It’s the natural state of Apples.
He then recommended, whenever you want to pursue a goal, find one real healthy Apple first and make that your North Star. Don’t just stare at the crate with rotten Apples and hang your target low.
Maybe it’s time to fix the problems on the macro level, sedentary lifestyle, industrial food, sleep deprivation rather than chasing mirages.
