Great points. I'd add another thought:
Intermittent fasting - simply reduce the time window for food. 4 decades ago, it was mostly all about 2 meals per day - almost no snacking. At least in rural Austria.
There was no habit to eat all the time.
Today food is everywhere. No wonder that people take in too many calories, even when they already have mostly created a habit of eating healthy food.
