I still wonder, why Medium wants to add a subjective measure to an objective one.

Views, Claps and Reads are still valid metrics on this platform. If Medium wants to add additional benefit for the successful writers, they just have to increase the payment per view, clap and reads.

Another idea would be to introduce ads for readers that don't pay a monthly fee. It also would increase the money writers make.

A Bonus always adds a bit of another flavour, as it is subjective and nobody knows what they need to do in order to qualify for a bonus that still is a significant amount of money.

The objective measures work best to grow a business as long as they are fully transparent. On Medium one just needs to write quality content and publish daily and in two years, they can make a significant amount of money.

I wonder, what route Medium will go in August.
