If your investors are your parents, they may just want to get their money back. However, the expectations will rise as you go from friends and family to experienced investors. Experienced investors are going to hope for a return of 10X to 30X in the next seven to ten years.

It is not a question what an investor wants or not.
A founder raising seed funding has a moral obligation to only present cases of which he thinks they will return 10x minimum over 5-15 years.
