Society changes over time. Skills that worked in the 90s, don't work today. Focusing on a limited number of skills that are solving real world's problems makes a lot of sense. Just don't get emotionally attached and stuck. Be flexibel, abandon skills that don't make money anymore and learn new ones. Find those skills that are timeless and master those first and foremost.
